Do you know the feeling when you go to a store to replenish your must-have product and you find out its been discontinued? This happened to me recently, when I went to get my favourite foundation Silk Creme by Laura Mercier.
I saw that it had different packaging and two versions of the product Moisturizing Photo Edition and Oil Free Photo Edition.
I was hoping that "Moisturizing" was the original and they didn't touch the formula, but I found out the hard way that formula was changed. And let me tell you... I went crazy, because there is no product on the market to compare it to. Being in a beauty industry I have many favourite products and I have maybe twenty five other amazing foundations to use, but thats not the point.
The main reason why I loved LM Silk Creme so much, was the coverage. Silk Cream was my saviour, my go to on a bad day or that time of the month product. Originally Laura Mercier created Silk Creme for clients with rosacea, so coverage was probably the maximum of what you can get on the market.
Laura Mercier website claims that Oil Free is the same formula as the original with a new packaging and broader shade range. But I would say, ITS NOT the same foundation. After that shout out I feel better:)
So here it is - the review of new Silk Creme Photo Edition foundation compared to original Silk Creme.
Texture - first of all, New Silk Creme Photo Edition is not as smooth and creamy. I tied both Oil Free and Moisturizing. Both are dryer and lighter texture than the original. Also since new formula is long lasting, it is more matt. After you apply it, it dries and sets itself very fast.
Coverage - I feel like the coverage is still there, but because the texture is not as smooth, it lost that natural flawless look
Application - when you apply the moisturizing, it sits in pores and lines, showing the skin texture. Oil Free goes on matt and chalky and also sits in pores and lines. Original Silk Creme would smooth everything out and give you perfect skin. I would apply it with buffing brush and the product would become a second skin natural finish but Doll face affect. New Silk Creme impossible to buff and blend you need to use a sponge like BeautyBlender and tap it on to your skin to get some what decent look.
Colours - Oil Free and Moisturizing colours are different. Oil Free are similar to original Silk Creme and Moisturizing are very off. Also from new formula they removed parabens (which is a good thing) however, now foundation oxidizes*... a lot!
Another thing I LOVED about Silk Creme was the smell. I smelled like old fashioned powder makeup or like a perfume with iris notes in it - very smooth and light scent. Now it smells like..... I am not going to say. Unpleasant.... lets put t his way
So to sum everything up, Laura Mercier Silk Creme Photo Edition might be a great foundation to some one who never used original Silk Creme. For me it was a waist of money. Now I have to look for alternatives....
Hope this review was helpful!
Xoxo,
Maria
*Oxidizing - is the process of changing colour usually to darker shade when in contact with skin and the air

Hard Candy - Color Mascara
I wanted to buy color mascara for a while and yesterday I went to Wall Mart to pick up some kitchen staff and couldn't stop by cosmetic section. I have a grayish-blue eyes that go green sometimes and when I do purple or blue make up it compliments my eyes very well. So, I picked:
1,000 Lashes - Fiberized Lash Weave Mascara in purple and Ginormous Lash - Volumazing Mascara in electric blue.
